The Capacity Building Workshop will consist of tutorials and lectures in the morning and hands-on computer sessions in the afternoon. The lectures will cover both Galactic and Extragalactic topics. The topics in each area may include Active Galactic Nuclei, Clusters of Galaxies, Gamma-ray Bursts, X-ray binaries, Transients, Star  formation, cataclysmic variables, Supernova Remnants, Stellar coronae, and Interstellar Material. The afternoon sessions will provide the students with experience concerning online access to data and models, state-of-the-art data analysis tools and modelling techniques.

 

The official language of the Capacity Building Workshop is English.

Tools for the hands-on sessions

The workshop aims at concentrating on Chandra, XMM-Newton and Astrosat data analysis. The  required tools to process and extract results from the X-ray archival data are: HEASOFT, ISIS, FTOOLS, SAS, CIAO that are all freely available for the Linux/MacOS X operating systems  required at the school.

Participants are required to bring their own laptops and install the necessary software before their arrival at the workshop. Please write to us for any kind of problem on the installation procedure. Those participants who are unable to bring their own laptops are requested to contact us well in advance. They will be provided access to a desktop system at the workshop. Data for analysis will be provided by us during the workshop.
