Recruitment of Project Staff and Visiting Fellow 

Vigyan Pratibha Project at IISER Mohali

 

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali, a regional center for Vigyan Pratibha Project of HBCSE-TIFR Mumbai, invites applications for the following positions:

          a) 01 position for the post of Scientific Assistant B (SA-B)

          b) 01 position of Visiting Fellow

The project staff will be working under the Outreach Cell of IISER Mohali. Recruitment of the project staff will be for 1 year. Further extensions are subject to the performance and availability of funds for the project. The visiting fellow position is also for 1 year, and further extensions may be possible.   The selection will be based on the shortlisting of applications followed by a personal interview.

 Job Description: The candidate is expected

  1. to assist in the creation and distribution of educational materials under Vigyan Pratibha project.
  2. to assist in the organization of teachers’ training workshops at IISER Mohali.
  3. to develop and maintain a professional relationship with the teachers of the workshop.
  4. to visit schools across the region (Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh) in order to help teachers in the implementation of the project in the schools.
  5. to develop a network of resource persons for various project activities.
  6. to attend resource generation camps for Vigyan Pratibha at Vigyan Pratibha regional centers.
  7. to have a good knowledge of documentation.
  8. to organize regular group meetings.

 

The candidate is also expected to display a strong commitment towards the science outreach activities and he/she should be ready to travel on short notice. The visting fellow is expected to engage in the research and development aspects of the project.

 Minimum Qualification:

           a) Scientific Assistant B (PSA-B): M.A./Sc. in Science/ Science Education / Mathematics / Mathematics Education                     with 60% marks

           b) Visiting Fellow: Full time Ph.D. in Science/ Mathematics/Science Education/ Mathematics Education

   Desirable:

  1. Keen interest in science education and outreach activities.
  2. Experience in teaching/ scientific writing/ development activities.
  3. Competence in explaining and communicating school level science and mathematics.
  4. Proficiency in Hindi, English and Punjabi

 Salary: INR 35,400/- + HRA (SA-B); INR 56,100/- + HRA (Visiting Fellow); A higher salary may be considered depending on the eligibility and experience.
