Online Interview for Research Fellow (RF) Position in a Research Project funded by MoES, Government of India
Applications are invited from Indian citizens for a temporary post of Junior (first two years)/Senior (third year) Research Fellowship for the MoES sponsored project titled “Evaluation of the Impact of DWR observations on prediction of extreme rainfall events over the northwestern Indian region using WRF variational data assimilation system” in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali.
Number of Positions: 01 Research Fellow
Duration: initially one year (extendable upto end of the project)
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc./M.Tech in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology/Climate Science/ Geophysics/ Hydrometeorology/Hydrology/Computer Engineering/Physics or any disciplines related to Environmental Science from a recognized University/Institution with minimum first class (60% marks or equivalent CGPA). Applicants should also have qualified one of the following: CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test, including NET-Lectureship and/or GATE/JAM/ or equivalent national level exams.
Desired qualifications:
Prior research experience in WRF modelling (WRF) and data assimilation is desired. Familiarity with the analysis of data sets from climate models would be a big plus. Knowledge of appropriate programming languages such as FORTRAN, NCL, Python, R, and shell scripting.
Emoluments: As per the MoES, Government of India norms/guidelines.
