Polymorphism is known as the phenomenon of existence of a compound in more than one crystalline form. The polymorphs of a given compound may have different physical properties like different solubility, melting point, color etc. and, sometime different chemical reactivity and biological activity as well. Therefore, it becomes important to investigate the existence of polymorphs in cases of various organic compounds and especially drug molecules. We investigate the existence/appearance of different forms of the same drug under various crystallization conditions. These studies are then generalized for various class of compounds.
