Online Interview for Research Fellow (RF) Position in a Research Project funded by IIRS/ISRO, Government of India

 

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for a temporary post of Junior (first two years)/Senior (third year) Research Fellowship for the ISRO-sponsored project in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali.

 

Number of Positions: 01 Research Fellow

 

Duration: initially one year (extendable to 2 additional years after progress review)

 

Essential Qualifications: M.Sc./M.Tech in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology/Climate Science/ Geophysics/Oceanography/Hydrometeorology/Computer Engineering/Physics or any disciplines related to Environmental Science from a recognized University/Institution with minimum first class or equivalent CGPA. Applicants should also have qualified one of the following: CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test, including NET-Lectureship and/or GATE/JAM/ or equivalent.

 

Desired qualifications:

Prior research experience in WRF modelling (WRF) and data assimilation is desired. Familiarity with the analysis of data sets from climate models would be a big plus. Knowledge of appropriate programming languages such as FORTRAN, NCL, Python, R, and shell scripting.

 

Emoluments:  Rs 31000 + 16% HRA per month for the CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/equivalent qualified applicants. For others, as per the ISRO norms/guidelines.

 

Note: The performance of the Junior Research Fellow (JRF) shall be reviewed on completion of the two years, by an appropriate Review Committee. Based on the recommendations of the review committee, Junior Research Fellow may be awarded the position of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) with 35,000/- + admissible HRA.
