Applications are invited from Indian nationals to work as postdoctoral fellow in a research project funded by Wellcome Trust-DBT India Alliance
Title: An investigation on the role of transcription factors Ascl1a, FoxN4, Zic2b and tumor suppressor Pten in retina regeneration and functional analysis of pluripotency factors in retinal stem cells.
Unlike that of mammals and birds, zebrafish Muller glia (MG) cells can transform into retinal stem cells and repair a damaged retina. The conversion of MG from a quiescent stem cell to an actively dividing progenitor seems to be the key in determining the capacity of MG to repair the retina. This project is largely for addressing the mechanisms by which MG dedifferentiate and assume a progenitor status in the injured zebrafish retina.
