Applications are invited from Indian citizens for a temporary post of Project Assistant/Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for the SERB sponsored project entitled “Assessing glacier retreat and links between increasing landslides and channel erosion in High Mountain Asia” in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, IISER Mohali.
Outline of the project: The project aims to present a comprehensive understanding on the linkage between glacier-fluvial interactions, and sediment budget in HMA by employing remote sensing approaches integrated with field survey & machine learning tools.
Number of Positions: 01 (Project Assistant/Junior Research Fellow)
Duration: 01 year (may extendable after evaluation)
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc./MTech in Geology/ Applied Geology/ Geoinformatics/ Remote Sensing & GIS/Geophysics/Geodesy/ Engineering (Geomatics/Computer/Civil) or related disciplines from a recognized University/Institution with minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Desired qualifications: Prior research experience in fluvial geomorphology, landslide mapping, UAV, LiDAR techniques, sedimentology and field mapping components is desired. Familiarity with GIS and image processing software, and knowledge in appropriate programming languages such as Python and R is an advantage.
