Applications are invited for a position of JRF on a SERB funded project at IISER Mohali
Title: Collective dynamics of active polymers : implications for cytoskeletal structure and dynamics.
This is a collaborative project. The candidate is expected to work at IISER Mohali under direct guidance of Dr. Abhishek Chaudhuri, in close collaboration with Dr. Debasish Chaudhuri of IOP, Bhubaneshwar. The candidate is expected to visit IOP, occassionally.
Goal : The goal of this project is to provide theoretical understanding on the mechanisms by which a cytoskeletal network generate, transmit and respond to mechanical stresses in both in-vivo and in-vitro situations using analytical tools as well as coarse grained molecular dynamics simulations. It requires a good understanding of statistical mechanics and experience in computer programming.
Duration: Initial appointment will be for 6 months, extendable on a biannual basis upto the full duration of the project depending on the performance of the candidate.
Possibility of converting to a PhD position exists, for candidates clearing PhD entry requirements at IISER-Mohali while working on the project.
No. of Positions: 1
Fellowship: JRF scale as per SERB rules.
Essential Qualifications: M.Sc. in Physics with a keen interest in statistical mechanics theory and computer simulations.
The candidate is expected to be proficient in programming languages Fortran/c/c++ and familiar with unix based operating systems.
Candidates are requested to send a CV with a short write up about why they would be interested in the project to Dr. Abhishek Chaudhuri (
Last Date of receipt of application : 5th August, 2016.
