Our laboratory aims to understand transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms involved in diabetic macro- and micro-vascular complications. We are investigating the epigenetic mechanisms and role of epigenetic players such as enhancers and long noncoding RNAs in various disease prone cell-types including vascular smooth muscle cells and macrophages and their implications in diabetic vascular complications. To understand such phenomenon, we are utilizing next-generation sequencing technologies including single-cell transcriptomic and epigenomic analyses as well as advanced molecular biology approaches using primary cells isolated from diabetic mice as our model system. Moreover, we are also investigating epigenetic mechanisms involved in diabetic wound-healing and NETosis.
