IISER Mohali is one of the top science and research institutes in India, and attracts the best minds across the country. The selection procedures for the various programmes on campus are rigorous, and includes clearing and securing ranks in highly competitive examinations including JEE, KVPY, GATE, JEST, and NET among others. Most undergraduate students are Government of India scholars, and are recipients of the INSPIRE and KVPY fellowships. Postgraduate and research students are also recipients of numerous prestigious fellowships including INSPIRE and JRF. Envisioning a new generation of scientists and mathematicians, IISER Mohali aims to emerge as a global centre of learning, academic excellence, and innovative research. In this pursuit, the institute has always strived to make an impact across domains, and both academia and industry. Students and researchers are encouraged to work and collaborate on projects both within and outside the institute. As a result, they undertake summer/winter/semester-long internships every year in institutions around the globe, learning and developing their skills in intellectually stimulating environments.

1. Pre-Placement Engagement and Talks
  • Invitations and Pre-placement talks scheduled with companies between the months of July-November.
  • Companies email us with their various interests and positions for our in-campus students.
  • Companies share key aspects of their firm, work environment, and growth opportunities in the form of speech or PPT.
  • Companies present their expectations from the Application Process and on what basis they will further shortlist.

2. Application Process and Shortlists
  • Companies express interest via Job Notification Forms (JNF) including job descriptions and additional information.
  • Students submit detailed resumes through the Opportunity Cell Committee which will be informed to them via emails.
  • Students' resumes are made available to companies through an online portal.
  • Companies scrutinize applications and send shortlists to the Placement Office by the months of November-January.

3. Placement Interviews and Screening Tests
  • Verified CVs of students are accessible to companies in July and December.
  • Screening tests (written or online) are conducted before interviews.
  • Placement interviews start from November and may continue till February, with options for video conferencing if companies are unable to visit the campus.

4. Offers and Acceptance
  • Companies make offers including details of role, location, remuneration, and conditions.
  • Offers are communicated via emails of the selected student candidates.
  • Final offers sent to candidates within three weeks after the final interviews.
