Research Focus: <\/strong>My primary area of focus includes urban housing; asking how urban housing shortage and social segregation affects the socio-economic condition of Muslims. In urban areas higher demand and lower supply of rental accommodation influence the increase of rent. Social negotiation in such context tends to force the spatial clustering of Muslims within a particular space and forms the Muslim ghetto within a slum. At present, I am looking at the housing shortage, affordability of rental accommodation and the socio-economic condition of people of rented Muslim dwellers in slums of Kolkata. <\/p>\n
