Organic Light Harvesting Materials
Research in this group is directed towards design and synthesis of organic chromophores to control their excited state properties for specific applications. The new pi-conjugated organic molecules with tailored properties are designed along the following themes: i) Multichromophoric light harvesting (LH) antenna and macrocycles for Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and their utilization as multi-stimuli responsive sensors. ii) Donor-acceptor (D-A) twisted intramolecular charge transfer rotors as multifunctional sensors. (iii) Twisted D-A conjugates as thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) materials. (iv) Applications of above molecules as metal-free visible and near infrared (NIR) light photocatalysts for organic transformations and hydrogen evolution.
