You have reached the home page of Dr. Dipanjan Chakraborty. I am currently an Assistant Professor in Physics at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali, India. My research interests include application of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics in the areas of soft-matter physics, molecular dynamics simulation of soft-matter systems and Brownian dynamics simulation. Originally, I am from the suburban town of Chandannagar near Calcutta, West Bengal India. The little town of Chandannagar (or I should say "city", since its growth in the last 5 years has been phenomenal. You can even find "Reebok Outlets" in Chandannagar, which during our teenage years was simply just inconceivable ), was originally a French colony . The town gets its name from the meandering river Hooghly (a distributary of Ganges). The curve of the river represents a crescent moon and hence the name "Chander Nagar" or the "City of the Moon". I must also add that the town boasts one of the most beautiful "strand" in the neighbourhood. Its beauty has probably degraded in the recent years, but nevertheless it still remains a favourite area of hangout among young people. Chandannagar, being a French colony during the British colonial rule, has a rich history of freedom struggle and has been host to number of revolutionaries which include the name of Shri Rash Behari Bose, Shri Aurobindo Ghosh. Well, that's enough of rambling in the first page. If you are still interested you may follow the links in the navigation bar. If not, then "Au Revoir" , "Auf Wiedersehen" or in simple english farewell my friend.
